Champion
Every coach dreams his student will one day become a champion. A champion of the chess club, the city, state, country, or even the whole world.
I was Anna Ushenina’s personal coach in the early 2000s when she studied chess in my alma mater, the Kharkiv Sport School. She was already very strong, but did not yet have any international titles. At only 15 years of age, she became the Ukrainian U20 Girls Champion.
After Anna finished her studies at the Sport School and my coaching was completed, we remained in contact. I took great pleasure in following her progress and her success when she became an Olympic Champion in 2006 and again in 2012 when she became the 14th Women’s World Chess Champion!
When she won her GM title and the Women’s World Championship, we created the following training course: “Test your strength and improve your game with the 14th Women’s World Chess Champion”.
